SwimReady
Building water confidence before swimming lessons begin.
A gently and supportive programme helping children become more comfortable and confident in the water, ready to take their next steps into swimming lessons.
What is SwimReady?
SwimReady is a gentle water-confidence programme for children who may not yet feel ready for conventional swimming lessons.
Rather than focusing on strokes or swimming distances, sessions give children time to become familiar with the water and the pool environment, building confidence at their own pace.
A parent or carer joins their child in the water initially, providing a familiar and reassuring presence. As confidence develops, support is gradually reduced, helping the child move towards greater independence and, when they are ready, into swimming lessons.

Being SwimReady isn't about completing a checklist of skills. It's about helping each child become emotionally, physically and sensory ready, and secure enough to take their next step.
SwimReady may be a good starting point for children who:
feel hesitant, cautious or unsure in the water
find the pool environment unfamiliar or overwhelming
still prefer the reassurance of having a parent or carer nearby
aren't yet comfortable joining an independent swimming lesson
have tried swimming lessons before but would benefit from a gentler transition
have started swimming later than their peers
have outgrown younger children's classes but aren't quite ready for the next stage
need more time and individual support to develop confidence and independence
A different starting point.
Children develop water confidence at different times and in different ways.
SwimReady provides a supportive bridge between parent-supported swimming and greater independence in the water. There is no pressure to progress at a set pace; children are given time to become comfortable, build trust and move forward when they are ready.
Small steps. Supported independence. Ready for what comes next.
